Goodbye

All great things come to an end... Sadly I have to inform you about that I will no longer be keeping a blog. My last post is to farewell you. But before I go I want to talk about some things. In this lesson I have enjoyed keeping a blog, specifically I have learnt about how to keep a blog. There was some hard tasks to accomplish, but nothing is impossible if you try hard enough. I had the most fun when I have designed a magazine cover, and a poster. I can't say that I didn't enjoy in some specific tasks. They were are enjoyable in a way. If my memory serves me well, writing my first post was very hard to me to do. I had to decide on my audience, wordings, type of the post that I will be writing etc. As the time went on, I got used to writing posts, I gained speed in writing too. I believe that writing posts improved my overall ability in writing skill. Sadly it is over, but who knows maybe I can start a new blog about new things. Future awaits!

Migration from Rural to Urban

Resim
For this week's task, it is requested from us to create a Padlet page about some selected topics. My friend Seda Erdoğan and I have decided to write about migration. Our exact topic is "Migration from rural areas to urban areas" . It has become a common problem especially in the last two cent uries. We have decided to use KWL charts . KWL stands for "What I know, What I want to know, and What I learned." There are some benefits of using KWL charts, students can show their background knowledge, they can set an aim for learning new information, and connect the cognitive link between these. During the process of forming a KWL chart, we have written what we have already know about migration from rural to urban. Then we have made some research about this topic. We have found out that why people decide to migrate, what do they do after migration, and are they happy with the migration. After reading those, we have explicitly selected the ones that correlate with ou...

Magazine Cover: Cartoonist

Resim
Hello everyone, Batin here. This time my assignment was to create a magazine cover. I have used Canva, an online software, to design my cover page. I have decided to choose the theme of it to be related with cartoons. I like cartoons ever since I have started watching them. Growing up did not change the habit. Without a further ado here is my magazine cover.

Digital Storytelling

Resim
This week we had to choose an option from the three given tasks: create a digital story, create a PSA, create a how to project. At first I have chosen to do a PSA, I have decided on the subject as "Corona" since it's the most popular thing right now. I have found some footage and edited them, I've put a background music and a voice-over. Sadly it did not come out as I expected, so I had to scratch that idea and start a new project. This time I chose to do a how to video. I knew what I was going to show, origami. I have been doing origami for several years now. I have filmed the process with an overhead projector, edited them on a software, added voice-overs and voila it was perfect. Here is my How to video If I have the chance in the future I would definitely give my students some sort of similar task, it helps to improve productivity, motivates the student, enhances the language skills.

Film Review: IT / Link inside

This week's task was to create a film review. For the task I have chosen the best movie that I have watched so far, it's name is "It" movie adaptation of a famous Stephen King's novel. While creating the film review I had to remember the movie in detail, in order to remunerate the movie. I have looked up the IMDB page to see the cast, writers, and the director. Recalling the movie was an incredible trip. It reminded me how I love that movie and I have to watch it's second movie sometime. If you are interested in horror movies or want to try one, I definitely recommend you to read my review. To read the review, click  here .

Horror in the Old House-Story Podcast

As a course requirement we have been given some subjects for creating a podcast. There were options like singing a chant of a character, changing the world in 60 seconds. But I have chosen tell a story podcast. The reason behind why I have chosen this instead the others is I love creating stories especially horror stories. Since my childhood I have always loved to listen horror and thrilling stories. My family did not let me watch horror movies until the age of 11. I remember the day I have watched my first horror movie. It was a rainy afternoon, the movie was named "A Nightmare on Elm Street". Starting from that day, I have always wanted to watch a good horror movie. I got into dark stories and started reading H.P Lovecraft and Edgar Allen Poe. Anyway here is the short horror story podcast. I hope you get thrilled! While creating the podcast the hardest part was finding the right sound effects to give the feeling of being in the story. I have search in some free ...

21th Century Learning

Throughout the centuries mankind has always been in search of knowledge. The only thing that has changed from the beginning is the methods of this search, which we can call learning. With the advent of the internet people had started to interact with each other frequently, which resulted in share of knowledge and information. This lead people to use the internet, world wide web, to gain knowledge from A to Z. Unlike the old times when there was no internet, learning is aided with technology, and this technology involvement requires some elements which a learner has to have. The picture above is a statue named "The Thinker" it represents thoughts and thinking. We should also be thinking about the skills that we need to adapt this new 21th century and how can we learn in this century. Lets explain some of these 12th century skills. We need to have literacy in many aspects to be an eligible learner. Media-literacy, mathematics-literacy etc. We need to be able to work ...
