For this week's task, it is requested from us to create a Padlet page about some selected topics.
My friend Seda Erdoğan and I have decided to write about migration. Our exact topic is "Migration
from rural areas to urban areas". It has become a common problem especially in the last two cent
uries.
We have decided to use KWL charts. KWL stands for "What I know, What I want to know, and What
I learned." There are some benefits of using KWL charts, students can show their background
knowledge, they can set an aim for learning new information, and connect the cognitive link
between these. During the process of forming a KWL chart, we have written what we have already
know about migration from rural to urban. Then we have made some research about this topic.
We have found out that why people decide to migrate, what do they do after migration, and
are they happy with the migration. After reading those, we have explicitly selected the ones
that correlate with our topic, and have added them on the chart.
During this process we have used a website named Padlet. It is so easy to make a group wall
with this online software. You can add participants to your wall, make them admin, also if
you enable it, everyone who visit your page is able to comment on your charts. So it is a
collaborative tool not for only groups but also for the whole class. But most importantly
selecting your group mates is the important part of group-works. Knowing with that I have
worked with Seda before, I was certain that she is a hardworking and determined student.
So I can say that I'm glad to be group-mates with her.
Here is our Padlet page, do not hesitate to write your comment on it if you would like to
do so!
